My job title is a software engineer and my role varies depending on the project I'm working on. So far I have been involved in both technical and non-technical roles. On my current project I am configuring test and development environments for my team to work on. Every day my team has a small meeting to discuss what each person will do that day.
Yes over the past year and a half I have learnt many new skills. I have been sent on a couple of training courses to help me with project work too which is good. On top of this I have been completing work based assessments given to me by my QA assessor so I have learnt alot about soft skills too.
I enjoy my programme very much, I think my work/life balance is good now we have stopped our uni work. My team is very welcoming and friendly like the rest of the company and the location of my current project is good too.
I feel very valued. I have been sent on various training courses which cost a great deal of money so its obvious that Capgemini have faith in me.
I think it could be better organised to be honest. For example we started our uni work with the OU and even completed a whole module before being told we would be stopping our uni work for now.
My training provider, QA, is very supportive in my studies. Not only does he help with my work based assessments but he also gives me advice on professional behaviours too.
I receive loads of support from my employer. I have a reviewer who I can about any concerns I have. My project team is very supportive too, they always encourage me to develop my skills by funding my training courses.
The starting salary is good I think. However I think that at the end of every year my salary should increase slightly.
Yes outside of work there are always events going on. Usually all the information about this is stored on the company intranet and sometimes e-mails are sent around with information too.
Yes
Great place to work and great alternative to university!
Don't be afraid to ask silly questions. This was the first time I have ever joined a large organisation like Capgemini and I wasn't sure of a few small things for example how to set up my phone to receive emails and things like that.
