I assist with the design packages; checking the rates on timesheets alongside the application for payment; I send and write early warnings, correspondences and instructions to the design subcontractors; I also contact the subcontractors on any queries we have; I check the quotations sent from the subcontractor; and catch up on my university work throughout the day.
I have developed my excel and communication skills massively. this was something that my manager targeted to make be a more professional Quantity surveyor.
This I a great programme with lots of opportunities. This is tuning me to become a successful Quantity surveyor as it is applying my studies into my everyday life giving me a greater understanding.
I feel very valued and I am always praised for my work that I complete.
This is a great programme and the way that is structured is for you to move an develop and not to just sit in one place and stay there.
The support is great. My manager has got me to shadow a commercial manager and see what he does and assist him with his work load.
If I don't understand then I ask about something and they always give a reply, you are not ignored and it feels like everyone is valued.
The package is great. I earn a lot more than my previous job and so I can buy pretty much everything I want now without saving up much money and you can afford to go on some really nice weekends away and holidays.
Outside of work I have a great social life with the guys in the office and we all go out at least once a week. Sometimes we go with the client and so it is nice to meet more people on the project and this enables us to become a strong team.
Yes
The company feels like a family and so you feel like you can trust everyone. the systems are great and there is always the opportunity to grow no matter what stage you are at in your career.
The first thing I would say is to do your research, go into depth and spend some time doing so. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t but I got into a suit for my telephone interview, it’s psychological but it just make you sound more professional over the phone and also if you can’t answer a question just say, they can always come back to it at the end. When you’re in the assessment center talk to the other candidate you are not against each other so work as a team to break all of your nervous. But the biggest tip is fro you to be yourself or they will see though it, truth is the key.
