My job title within my apprenticeship is an Apprentice Repair Technician, which involves examining, diagnosing, repairing and analysing faulty or damaged components on circuit boards
From when I started my apprenticeship in September, I have learnt a variety of new skills regarding the repair of circuit boards, for example, I've been trained as an IPC Specialist in repairing and replacing electrical components, as well as a variety of techniques taught by my peers that assist in my day-to-day activities.
I enjoy the programme that I am on, because I'm constantly learning new things, and working with new people on a regular basis. I feel accepted into my team, and I highly enjoy nearly every aspect of the work I am involved in.
I feel that my manager and my team are highly appreciative of the work that I do, and I am regularly called upon to participate in internal and external projects and activities as part of my role
My programme is well structured, and this has been explained to me, with additional information being available to me whenever I need it. My induction has covered everything that I needed to know about my role within the company, and my sponsor within the company is always available with any information or assistance that I require to do my job.
My sponsor within the programme is always available for guidance and support whenever I need it, as well as providing additional assistance where it is required. Any problems I have had have been resolved quickly and swiftly with the assistance of my sponsor.
My manager has assigned a sponsor to me in order to provide as much support as I require to complete my day-to-day job, as well as providing me with a mentor on each of my shifts to provide me with additional guidance when I need it.
My salary is more than enough to meet my living costs and travel costs (I walk to and from work, so there are no major travel costs I am required to pay)
There are a lot of company events that I have the opportunity to participate in, including charity events, school events and other voluntary work that is sponsored by my company
Yes
I feel that Siemens values each and every employee, and brings out the best in all of it's employees. Along with encouragement, support and guidance, the overall friendly "family" atmosphere of the company makes it a great place to work.
The application process was very straightforward, and each step was explained in detail to me. The interview were very relaxed, and laid back, there was no level of intimidation.
