I'm currently working on the technical architecture for a client. I have just been moved to this role, so currently I am interacting with team members the ins and outs of the work they are doing. I have been using AngularJS, HTML and CSS to work on a dashboard to show statistics.
I have learned many, many new skills throughout my apprenticeship ranging from general people skills and gaining confidence to learning how to write code such as C#, Java and PHP. I have completed a college diploma along with an NVQ in my first year.
I enjoy my programme greatly, I feel that the work is challenging but Accenture allow you to slowly progress and to learn as you go. People are always around to help if and when you need it. The company is very welcoming and offers lots of training/events to all apprentices.
I feel that as an apprentice I get a lot of recognition for what I do and I feel very valued within teams. I feel involved within the teams while still learning which is exactly what I want from an apprenticeship.
I felt the induction was very good at bringing the apprentices up to speed with how the company works, what to do and not to do while also giving a good introduction to the type of work we were going to be doing. The training courses have been excellent both online and courses taught in the workplace. I have plenty of support around me and people I can talk to if I am not liking anything about my role. I feel that the programme is very well organised in terms of teams/getting tasks.
I receive a lot of support from both my employer and the university I am currently attending, the tutors have all gave their contact details and have said they are there to help at all times. I have emailed and contacted them to ask for help and they are always happy to help me either over the phone or to set up a meeting.
I receive a lot of support from my employer, my manager often offers guidance and answers any questions I have. The HR team is there for me if I ask, and will set up a meeting if I have any concerns. They give great guidance with problems I have and what I should do to do well within my career.
I think that the salary is a very fair one at Accenture. It allows me to meet all my costs quite well.
There are plenty of opportunities outside of work, Accenture are often organising events for the Newcastle delivery centre but there are also team events to go to. The company also offers 3 days volunteering per year to go and give back to the community.
Yes
It's a fantastic company for apprentices which offers lots of training, insight into the work and experience to advance a young person's career.
My tips to others applying for Accenture are: Be ready to learn Be confident Be enthusiastic You should show that you're a young person ready to learn, it does not matter if you have no prior technical experience, if you can show you're willing to learn, you have a better chance of success.
