My main role at Accenture is to work as a part of the Post Office Ltd, Live Support team based in Newcastle. This includes various monitoring of the Post Office website and authorising changes to the website. Other daily tasks include updating spreadsheets based on SQL queries, allowing other team members to view how many fishing licences for example, have been sold. Interactions are made daily with the Indian Delivery Centre as the majority of the Post Office team is associated over there.
I have received multiple skills since joining Accenture. I recently completed my NVQ in IT along with my technical certificate from a Level 3 in IT & Telecoms from Newcastle College. I am now working towards my Foundation Degree and looking to progress onto a full degree in the future. Throughout this course I have gained personal skills for example I now find it easier to speak in public, be interviewed and just communicate in general. The majority of my IT skills have came from training courses provided by Accenture.
I get to meet and speak to a lot of different people and I'm always learning on the programme. I enjoy the daily routine of being in an office and still getting an education.
Very. Employee's at Accenture are looked after extremely well with multiple recognition schemes and rewards available. There are a lot of people within the company that will help you through almost anything whether it is their duty or not.
Very well. There are a lot of opportunities within the structure for training, studying and support. There are multiple meetings with various people to keep track of how well you are doing and what needs to be done if you aren't.
We receive enough support from both our guidance supporters and tutors at the college. Tutors are willing to organise 1-1's in order to get you the grade you need.
At Accenture, the apprentices, and all employees, are given a lot of support. As an apprentice I have multiple tiers of support there for me, first of all is my line manager, I can discuss any issues I am having whether it be if I'm struggling or I need more time to do something. Above that, I have the HR team who are willing to speak in a meeting with me if I have any issues about my role or my manager. Finally, I have a career counsellor I can speak to at any time about what is best for me and what path I should take within the company.
I am able to run my own car, pay my own travel costs, daily costs and social costs, all covered by my salary here.
There are a lot of volunteering opportunities for company events and external events. I take part in a lot of these, some are just small events talking to a few people and then some are very busy events with hundreds of people. You are not made to do volunteering but it is something worth doing.
Yes
I'd recommend Accenture to a friend because it offers a fantastic opportunity for young people to start their career within IT. They are a successful global company that work in all aspects of IT and consultancy which will give a young person a chance to move into any area they find interesting and progress through their career doing what they want by gaining relevant experience and completing training throughout
I would recommend to any other applying for Accenture that you should be: eager to learn, confident and professional. The company is looking for young people who are willing to learn, it doesn't matter if you have had no previous experience, as long as you show your positive attitude and stay professional, they will be more likely to bring you into the company
