Bluebench Data Model Analyst. Daily I check data that we receive from different sources and import into the bluebench tool. The bluebench tool is a tool that people can use for a single point of truth for all data around systems, to be used for migration projects.
I have developed a lot of skills round data centre migrations. I am now on my second data centre migration and hope to attend a course around the IBM specific data centre migration methodology.
I enjoy my program a lot as I get to work with a wide variety of people, including people from other countries. Some daily tasks are not as exciting as others but overall the projects I get to be on are very interesting.
I feel fairly valued at IBM, this is from feedback and general notes of appreciation from work that I have completed. I feel that during review time I may not be seen as valued as I do on a daily basis as the review time is across the whole year and I think that the people that rate the employees don't get to see first hand the work that the employees produce/carry out.
The programme is very well stuctured and is 3 years long. Training is encouraged throughout my apprenticeship and there is also mandatory training events to attend which help build on my core skills.
I get a good amount of support from my training providers. If I ever feel that I need additional help I can just ask and I usually get a response and the right help very quickly.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. My manager regularly checks in with me to see how I am getting on. There are also bi-weekly calls for the community where you can get additional support.
My salary meets my costs okay at the moment as I am currently living at home. I always tend to stay away during the week when I work so at the moment my salary is sufficient.
There are several opportunities to work outside of work. I have attended lots of volunteering activities at colleges where you get a chance to talk to students who may want to join IBM.
Yes
Its a great scheme with loads of opportunities. You get to meet a wide range of people possibly from different countries. You also get loads of experiences in different areas.
always be confident in the work you do and never be afraid to ask questions. If you see an opportunity always take it as you never know where it could lead you to.
