My role within my apprenticeship is to gain experience and develop my knowledge within the company. Every 3 months I will enter a different department and at the end of my 3rd year, I will be asked to choose a final placement were I will be spending the rest of my apprenticeship in. With regards to further education, I attend college on Day Release studying a HND in Engineering Systems.
Since starting my apprenticeship, I have learned many new skills such as new hand skills, further developing my communication skills and many more.
I think this was the best decision I made to join the apprenticeship programme here at Finmeccanica. I feel as if I am continuously developing my engineering knowledge.
Within the company I feel quite valued as I am given a lot of responsibilities. I am given lots of work to do within the company.
The programme is structured very well as there is constant meetings with Assessors who provide feedback on our SVQ portfolio and support us throughout our apprenticeship.
I receive great feedback from my training provider as there is always a chance to get help from lectures and we also receive feedback on the work we do.
I receive great support as there is a 12 week review to review my progress and like mentioned before, I regularly meet with my assessor to get feedback on my SVQ portfolio.
Personally I believe the apprenticeship salary is good and allows young people to earn while still perusing education. It is a competitive salary.
There are many opportunities outside of work such as recruitment events, presentations to schools and science festivals. We are notified these at the monthly apprentice meeting.
Yes
I would recommend Finmeccanica to a friend for the main reason that you are still perusing education while gaining valuable work experience.
When applying for a position in Finmeccanica, make yourself heard and also ask lots of questions to show that you are interested about the company.
