Currently based in a department that deals with testing, my role currently is to design and develop a project that will help with the testing of RADAR components. Daily tasks involve, meetings, discussion with managers and hands on practical learning.
there are many skills that I have learnt though the business that I did not know before, college has also helped gain knowledge and develop skills that I previously had.
I feel that, the programme is suited to me as it is a mix of both theory based work at college but also you are getting the work based experience, and you are learning all the time. which is a great benefit of being here.
As an apprentice, we are the newest members into finmeccanica but that doesn't stop us being very valued by the company as we are going to be the new workforce in a few years so the company does value us which is shown by all the training and help that they put us through.
I believe that the programme is very well organised, in terms of training, support everything you could possibly need to know about the business is easily accessible whether its by contacting manager or colleagues. The way in which the induction is carried out really eases you into the business life.
The training provider provides a large amount of support with all problems that you could face, makes it very easy to get into contact with them which makes dealing with query's very hassle free.
The employer provides great amount of support with all aspects of the business, it is very easy to get into contact with the employer though HR or apprentice manager.
The salary of the apprenticeship has not been reviewed over the past few years so in terms of salary I believe that it could be improved slightly although it is still enough to cover all expenditure.
There are many opportunities to get involved in external activities such as, recruitment events for schools, colleges and these types of events come up all the time.
Yes
I think the company is great, as it supports its employees and willing to provide benefits that are not actually required. The company treats its employees very well which would make me recommend it to a friend.
Be prepared, not all interviews are the same make sure you have slight background knowledge of the job that you are applying for. As questions can be asked. but do not go in guns blazing and act like a know it all.
