At the moment I don't have s specific job title or role as the apprenticeship has me moving from department to department every 3 months doing placements. As such daily work can vary a lot but in general when you enter a new department you given an overview of the work it does and then either go through training related to that department or begin shadowing someone in the department.
Yes. At college I've attained an HNC in engineering systems and am currently working towards my HND. Also in work I've had experience with a variety of different equipment and software such as 3D modelling packages.
I think the flexible working hours are good and also the varied work keeps things interesting. The ability to choose a department to work in once finishing the apprenticeship is also appreciated.
I feel like there is definitely a strong interest in seeing that I do well within the company and that does help to make me feel valued.
Everything feels well organised within the apprenticeship. A timeline is clearly set out from the beginning meaning I knew what to expect from the start.
In college we receive a lot of support from capable tutors through things like moodle where extra material can be put up to support our learning.
Both my manager and the departments I have worked in have been very supportive in helping me progress with learning and developing new skills.
Given my current living arrangement, travel costs, food costs and everything else, all in all my salary meets these costs pretty well.
I think there is free access to Lothian gyms through the company although I don't know of any major company events that happen regularly.
Yes
I think it's been a decent place to work, especially if you're interested in engineering or business disciplines.
In the application process there are interviews and an assessment day so be prepared for that. You might also be asked to show a project you made yourself if you're applying for a craft or technical apprenticeship.
