Role: Business Apprentice. Daily Tasks: Meetings, running programs and projects. Interaction and reporting into senior management. Daily Internal Interactions: Meetings with IPT members, Interaction with senior management, Interaction with other Apprentices. Daily External Interactions: Interactions with customers, Interactions with children at careers fairs. promoting the Finmeccanica Apprenticeship programme. Responsibilities: Reporting, running tasks individually, Motivating members of the company. In my role I have the responsibility of business winning for the company. I manage my own time and that of others in order for us to meet timescales for the company to reach its financial targets.
I have developed my interpersonal skills during my apprenticeship, as well as time management and business acumen. I have been involved in cultural awareness courses as well as program courses for use of excel. I am completing an NVQ in Business Administration whilst I am in my placement. I have been in external negotiation courses which I now use in my role daily.
My apprenticeship has allowed for me to experience a working environment that is both professional and fun. I have the opportunity to develop myself daily through educational courses and daily experiences. The company's culture is very supportive of the apprenticeship programme which is encouraging for myself to want to succeed. The program has exceeded my expectations and I am thoroughly enjoying my apprenticeship.
I feel very appreciated. As aforementioned the company's culture is very supportive of apprentices as we are seen as the next generation of the work force. I have received internal recognition from the recognising peoples excellence award, which incentivises you to go over and above your job role.
The programme is very well structured. The programme started off with an in-depth induction allowing us to know more about the company, export controls as well as learn more about our apprenticeship. The apprenticeship programme allows for you to experience different aspects of the company through a 4 month placement scheme. This lets the apprentice experience all of the different functions of the business as well as learn.
I receive a lot of support from my apprentice manager. I have weekly sessions set up with her in order to progress with my NVQ work. I also have reviews with her every 12 weeks in order to review placements. I feel supported by my apprentice manager if I need to discuss work or personal matters.
The company is extremely supportive of the apprenticeship Scheme. I receive plenty of guidance, and tasks that will help my development. The HR team provides internal training. If the area in which you wish to be trained in is not done internally, the HR team will organise for some external to come in and conduct the training.
The salary package I receive is above competitive. I am able to live comfortably with costs for travel and any social activities I wish to take part in. Our location has prime transport links allowing for multiple options for me to get to work.
I have been lucky enough to have lots of external work opportunities. I have been able to travel abroad on business to visit our customers. I have also had the opportunity to go on away/team building days. We also socialise with our peers externally through meals and activities which helps to create a better working environment. Before starting this apprenticeship I was working full time in hospitality.

Finmeccanica as a company supports apprentices and values them highly. The apprenticeship scheme offered, allows for development both personally and through education. I would recommend the apprenticeship scheme with Finmeccanica to everyone.
I would advise for you to be yourself. Ensure that you have read and researched the company in order to impress in interviews. the company has a good communication between them and the apprentices.
