I currently attend college in Chester doing a mechatronics apprenticeship this involves things from electronics, programming and machining. I spend half my time on practical and half on theory work.
I have learnt many new skills such as programming, welding and electronics. I have also developed other skills such as team work and team leadership through a variety of tasks and activities. I have also developed my maths and ict skills also.
I enjoy the responsibility given to me by my company I am doing work I thought Would not be able to do for years. I also enjoy the new skills I am learning through college and also going to the Astra factory during half terms this is a good experience.
From the start of the course I felt very valued by the company and it was stressed how we would be the future of the plant and so we were valued members of the team also in half term getting to strip parts for machinery that would be re used in plant after we had only been there a few weeks.
From vauxhall there is a very good professional organisation of the program and a clear understanding of what the expect however from the college it is unorganized and not well set out it is often unclear why we are doing things and when the questions are asked about the course no one has the answers.
I have received good support from my tutors and are always helped when it is needed.
I receive excellent support from Vauxhall. I have reviews done to help me understand what is expected from me and how I can achieve this.
I feel I am fairly paid and the salary meets my current costs well.
Currently as I am in full time education at college I don't have many opportunities however when I join I have been told of good opportunities such as the vauxhall gym.
Yes
It is a good supportive company and I am always treated as a valued member of the team.
others applying will need to make sure they stand out from the crowd and have a clear idea why Vauxhall is a good opportunity for you and why they should want you and what you will do for them as a company.
