In my current role as a process modeller I build architectural diagrams to represent business processes for the account opening process of a new savings product for a large financial sector client. Alongside the models I write detailed technical specifications which are sent to the build team in order for them to begin coding.
I have completed over 200 hours of learning since joining IBM through a range of internal and external courses including: - Project Management fundamentals - ITIL Foundation - Core Consulting - Cyber security - SQL
I enjoy my work the roles available can be very good for development but you need to go out and find them yourself.
I don't feel that the work that many apprentices do is recognized at an account level fairly within IBM however the programme itself does recognize their apprentices well.
The programme is still fairly new so a lot of activities seem to be new/things that are being done for the first time which can lead to a sense of disorganization but good overall.
I have an internal IBM people manager who I can consult if I have any issues she has always been on hand to help me.
In my current role there is a good support network for everyone in our team however this has not been the case for previous roles.
The salary is liveable and does increase slightly YoY.
As I work away from home I organise many social/sporting events from week to week however this is off my own back and not through IBM.
Yes
Compared to other competitors apprenticeship programmes it delivers a higher standard of on-the-job experience which I believe to be far more valuable than any course/learning activity that can be offered to you. Competitive salary in comparison to other schemes.
The application process can be very lengthy it took me 9 months from my first application to finding out I had a role. Try and use experiences outside of school/college when applying and ensure they are well formed and understandable in the application
