My role is within the accounts payable team and I am a MI administrator who's key responsibilities are to oversee the creation of new suppliers set up on our accounting system. I will check the bank account details to make sure they are not already set up and any differences or discrepancy's that occur I then investigate within the company and with the supplier.
I have completed my level 3 AAT on my apprenticeship scheme and attended several courses such as Excel intermediate and advanced courses along with a VBA course which have all helped to develop my excel skills, along with aiding in my day to day tasks and making me a more efficient worker.
I thoroughly enjoyed my scheme, the team I am part of were very friendly from day one and have constantly supported me through my journey and assisted me with anything I have needed help with. The company is a fantastic company to work for which was the impression I was given when I first started and it has not failed to live up to these expectations. I am very happy with everything that I have experienced so far along my journey as an apprentice and at M&G.
I have always felt very valued and appreciated within M&G. Just because I was an apprentice never meant I felt less valued. The scheme is run and managed very well giving you just as many equal opportunities as any other employee. Managers are very quick with recognition of your work especially on the apprenticeship scheme.
The apprenticeship scheme is very structured and well organised. From day one you know exactly what you are doing and your aims and objectives for the scheme. There is constant support around if you need it with regular catch ups to ensure everything is okay and you are progressing as expected.
My training provided (BPP) were very useful and supportive, due to issues when I first signed up and not having as much contact as I should have had they made sure to correct this by arranging more regular meeting with me to ensure I was comfortable with everything that was going on. The actual training was very informative and well structured with plenty of support and flexibility if needed.
My employer supported me through out my scheme ensuring I was happy and confident going into my exams and if I was not they were more than happy to assist me with extra training and courses until I was. I always knew who I could talk to or ask for help if I needed it and everyone was always happy to help.
My package suits me perfectly at the moment and I have never felt pressured or worried regarding personal finance. For someone starting off in the industry it is very fair and convenient for my needs.
There is always something going on inside or outside work be it a training event or something more social. Especially being part of the Investment 2020 scheme they are always putting on different types of events that often have a social side to them too.

They are a fantastic company to work for. They make you feel very at home and comfortable all while still pushing you to develop and better yourself and your career. They offer plenty of opportunities for development and progression.
Make sure you do your research about what you are applying for and the qualification you are likely to study relating to that area of work. Have a good idea of what you hope to achieve by working for the company, individually and businesswise. Even if you do not have direct experience in what you are applying for be sure to have an idea of what the role/area entails so you can relate any previous experience as best you can. Not having direct experience will never count against you providing you are willing to learn.
