I work as a brand assistant at Boots. My job role includes supporting the team working on new brands and products which will be entereing Boots stores. This involves attending meetings to disucss ideas, creating marketing and competitor maps and brainstorming brand names. I also carry out admin work for my team which includes paying suppliers, arranging meetings and team events.
Throughout my time at Boots i am constanltly learning new skills and developing the ones I already have. I have learnt to use a range of new IT systems, as well as gain confidence.
I really enjoy my programme. I love my day to day job role, and am also studying an NVQ and Diploma Level 4 alongside this, so am working whilst learning. My team are very welcoming and friendly and there is always someone to turn to for support
The Boots apprenticeship scheme makes you feel very valued. There is always someone to turn to for help and support if need be, and you are treated like any other employee, not just an apprentice
The programme is well organsied, I had to wait for around 8 months before starting once i'd been offered the job, however there was communication often. The structure of the programme is clear and set out so I know what i will be doing and when for the next 2 years. I am unaware however, of what team i will move to after the first year.
Our tutor provides a huge amount of support, we have lessons every month, and on the weeks inbetween can attend drop in sessions to ask quetsions. She is also always contactable over emaail.
My employer provides again, a large amount of support. My Line Manager and I have meetings each week to talk about the programme and my job role to ensure that i am getting everything out of it that i can/want. The HR team and Apprentice programme leader is also very supportive and always available to visit, or over email have we any questions or queeries.
The salary is great and very competitive. It supports me for travel costs, living costs, social, and daily costs. It provides a great alternitive to Uni
There are many events out of work at Boots, some in the office, such as Yoga, the gym, and netball clubs. There are also oppuriunties such as attending careers events to encourage more people to take on apprenticeships.
