I am a category assistant for Premium beauty buying, this involves setting up promotional campagins, putting through new lines (products) and being first hand communication for our suppliers.
I have learned many new IT skills, using new programmes,excel etc. It has imporved my communication skills as I have met many new people already during my time here. I have had to learn to prioritise my many tasks and be able to complete these tasks in a time frame.
I enjoy the job as it is so interesting seeing behind the scenes as to how products are intially ordered, submitted and then sold in store. Its enjoyable as I am passioante and interested in the products I am trading. I enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere and my team are extremely willing to help. My apprenticeship team and a good solid set of people and the leaders are always there to reach out to if there are any issues and we go away together which is enjoyable.
I feel very valued as the places available for this programme were so little and we had many meetings initally to meet with the leaders and other apprentices and they made us feel extremely wanted and welcome, often explaining why they chose us. The team trust me with many big important jobs even though I am new, meaning they trust and value me. Boots are great at involving everyone with buisness issue and rewarding us for doing well within the company.
The list of our tasks is well structured and clear and the programme gives us the same time off work every week helping us to get into a good routine. We are given said deadlines for the units, however it would be more structured if they were in writing.
Our support is down to us. Our provider is great at reminding us where she is at what times in case we need her, however it is a good balance as she allows us to come to her if we have issues.
My employer has regular catch ups with me to find out how I am both personally and proffessionally, this is good as there can be issues outside of work which affect people so this helps that she asks. I am able to bring us any issues with her and she understands the pressure from my apprentice work load.
The salary is fantastic for my age as most of my friends are in uni with very little to live on and have to work on top of going to university in order to go out. This alone has given me options like travelling holidays, seeing friends, saving for a car and my own place. Which I didn't think I would be able to do.
There are but these are usually down to talking to the right people, as there are many fundraising events but they aren't often shared so there are but they need to be better addressed.

A family orientated company that provides many opportunites to grow and learn and move whilst in the company as it is very easy to move roles into a completely different career, and they provide free training sessions to support your job role. They offer councilling, funding, insurance, aid for travel to work, extra holiday and give bonuses more than most companies. In an open plan office with over 2000 people it and the whole site with thousands more it feels very exciting and big to work here but still has great friendly employees.
Be different, honest and do what work best for you even if it looks out of place or odd. Don't be afriad to question things and look to see if they could work better a different way. They are looking for someone friendly enough to get on with a team, but independant enough to stand ont their own two feet with confidence.
