I generate changes to an application used for data warehousing documents. It can involve changes to the script or to the appearance of forms/documents themselves. With this application there is a lot of responsibility as they can be legal or regulatory documents and can be very technical. Users can face issues with the applications and so in the mornings I will review any incidents and then resolve their queries on top of my role with change requests. There are several steps that I have to go through with each change request which require a lot of communication between myself and the customer.
I have been enrolled on extra courses at college for Excel training. I have also started in this role with no knowledge or experience with scripting, which is now a new skill that I have learnt.
The IT team here are great and we are always doing extra activities, I’ve enjoyed my time here and get along with the department very well. The apprenticeship has exceeded my expectations.
I feel a lot of appreciation from my team as my role is very important in the function of the application and I receive recognition for my contributions.
We did have an introduction to the company when I first joined and in each of my roles so far have provided support. I’ve been assigned a mentor in my department who I can speak to if I have any problems and is very effective in supporting me.
Our training provider has regular meetings during the year to make sure that we are meeting deadlines and to raise any concerns that we might have.
I received a lot of support from my employer with regular meetings with HR, my personal mentor and my manager all to help my progress and support me
The wages that we get are above the minimum wage and increase it year
Within the IT department we are involved in a lot of activities during work time and out of work. This involves meals out, sports and competitions.

Vauxhall has offered me a lot of opportunities to progress in my career. By completing my apprenticeship here I am gaining qualifications and also getting experience with a large well known organisation.
Tips I would give is that be enthusiastic about what you do and take opportunities that are given to you.
