  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As I am in Business Administration - Marketing, my role involves supporting my team in various ways. This can be from organising travel and sending out prizes of shopping centre competitions to managing spreadsheets and paying/asking for produced invoices. I also support the team by answering their phones when they're not able, I will then take a message and email them so they know who has called. Furthermore, because I am doing my apprenticeship with the City of London and working in Leeds, I am doing my training in London every two weeks. This is a good experience for me as it gets me used to travelling which many of my colleagues are involved in due to site visits and meetings.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my confidence answering the phone when other people are around and understood how to talk when speaking to clients etc. I feel like I have progressed in using my initiative so I don't have to ask people questions which I am able to figure out for myself. Furthermore, I have also learnt new ways to keep up to date with jobs I need to finish and when by.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme because I feel I always have work to do which also aren't always the same jobs. This means I have variety and can understood roles of my colleagues by helping them with their jobs.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by JLL?
  • I feel very valued. This is because I still get emails to join with events they have set up for the team to join. They also value us by for example, being treated to an early finish on mad Friday because of the hard work people did, this is a busy time for the area I am working as my colleagues deal with marketing shopping centres.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My program is very well organised whether it's at work or when going for my training. For example, at work, I have weekly catch ups with my manager every Wednesday to see what I need to do and what I have finished etc. At my apprenticeship training, this takes place every two weeks on a Monday which is good as we have already been given a set diary of when I need to book travel which my manager can also see.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I receive enough detail about what I'm doing so I can complete my work for each session and my training provider doesn't mind when I ask questions. However, sometimes I can get confused with exactly what I'm doing when the action points are emailed to me, this means I can't ask face to face. Nevertheless, I still receive great support from my training provider.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive enough support for me to get on with my work and know what I'm doing. Sometimes I may have to ask about the job again to make sure I know I'm doing things right but they then tell me again what I have to do. This is good however because it gives me a chance to try figure things out for myself instead of getting told everything straight away.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary meets my costs for what I need and also what I want. I never feel like I'm running out at the end of the month and feel I am a good salary for my age, especially for an apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I do feel quite rushed when after work when I need to get to my football etc for a certain time, however, this would be the same for any full time job and won't occur in the summer months.

  • 9. Would you recommend JLL to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I feel JLL look after their employees and all work hard to make the business the best it can be. Not only this, but every person I've met is friendly and let's you know they appreciate you helping them out.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLL?
  • I would let them know that JLL is a very hard working business always with high standards. Not only this, but it if someone was applying in the department I am training in, they would need to know it involves being out of the office often so need to be committed in being able to travel.
