Job Title: Access Planner Daily Tasks: Plan fibre to businesses, update records, Cost Civils work, Cable Work, Use loads of different systems, Interact with people, Make Phone calls to contractors vies versa, Create Job packs for contractors to carry out works needed to get business online, Get stats and many many more. Projects: During My apprenticeship I took on a project upgrading all Gateshead school circuits from 10mb to 100mb. This was a fantastic experience for me and helped me understand how telecoms works. I visited numerous sites and planned cable pulls and checked chambers for fibre joints and cables. In a nutshell without going into to much detail and confusing people I plan fibre to business so they can have internet access of a low or high speed depending on the type of circuit and speed the customer wants.
Qualifications: I have worked towards a level 3 in ICT which is a good qualification to have. I have also learnt massive amounts about telecoms in the last year. I have learnt how fibre is provided to customers and how virgin install circuits to customers. Being external I didn't really have any idea of how anything worked or how anything was done but over the last year I have picked up a lot of things and learnt a lot.
I have really enjoyed working within my team based in Sunderland. This has helped me develop skills and make progress over the last year.
