Assistant Relationship Manager Review

My role is a coverage role. It involves contacting customers on a regular basis, either through phone calls, meetings or emails. I help with any questions or concerns they may have and I am one of their first points of contact. It also involves assisting the banks relationship managers with their day to day roles, including booking annual review appointments and completing any tasks that they forward onto me.

My communication skills have developed significantly since i started my apprenticeship. When it first began, I had vary little confidence when it came to answering the phone. Now, I have enough confidence to easily stike up a conversation with anybody. My IT skills have also developed since starting as there are a variety of systems which i am required to use and they can be difficult to understand at first.

I love the programme which I am on. No two days are the same and i am constantly busy. I also work in a brilliant office with a variety of people. Although it can be difficult at times, I know I can rely on my office to help me through and if it wasnt for the people I work with, I definitely woulding enjoy my role as much as I do.

Although I am not fully trained on how to do my job completely as I am a complete newcommer to the financial industry, I still feel like my employer values me. If I was not here, the team would probably be more stressed with their workloads, but I help to take some of the pressure off them so they can not only have enough time to do all they need to, but also so I can learn more quickly.

My programme is very structured. It is run by an organisation called BPP who set monthly webinars and also progress reviews with my assessor. I also have been given a set of things I should have completed by the end of my apprenticeship so I have something to aim for.

I receive a lot of support from my training provider. The monthly reviews with my assessor help me to highligh any weaknesses in my learning and also my strengths. If I have any provblems, it is easy to contact my assessor or the team that they work with and they will get back to me very quickly with the answers I need.

My employer, especially my line manager and colleagues are very supportive. They understand that I am new to the industry and accept that I have to learn and so they are willing to help if needed. My employer also supports me by giving me time each week to focus on my learning and any assessments that i have to complete.

I am on a decent salary which covers my costs for living with enough to be able to save substantially as well. It also covers all of my travel costs for to and from work.

At the moment, a lot of my time is prent studying for my upcoming exam, however I work Monday to Friday, 9-5 so there is plenty of time to be able to take up opportunities outside of work

The course I am on is well structured and organised. I am not being rushed through it and so I am given the chance to complete all work to the best of my ability. The financial industry is very demanding and also under a lot of scrutiny, however this gives me the opportunity to push myself and also gives a lot of opportunity to progress.

I would advise that an apprenticeship is not 'easy'. You should make sure that you are prepared for a lot of learning in a short space of time. I would also recommend that you research the company you are applying to and understand what you could be doing. Most of all, I would advise that you just be yourself, be confident and showcase your strengths.
