my role is a real estate apprentice in the commercial banking sector. On a day to day basis my colleagues partake in tasks including accpeting new loans, reviewing annual accounts, making overdrafts etc.
coming into the bank as a complete amateur to the industry, i have already learnt a vast range of new skills that i would of never learnt if i hadn't taken this apprenticeship.
i feel very privileged to have this oppurtunity, it is a great first step in developing my banking career. I enjoy the aspect of learning new things every day.
i feel very valued, as an apprentice it feel as if everyone is happy to lend a helping hand if you are struggling, this is very helpful to have on demand.
It could be better, the apprenticeship coursewwork side of things is very well organised but the actual work side of things is a little bit unstructured at times
BPP provide all the help i need and more, they are always at hand to help if i ever need anything and they are always keeping in contact with all apprentices.
Every colleague in my office has a lot of knowledge in are always happy to help if there are any times where i have a question or query relating to work.
the salary for this apprenticeship scheme is a lot higher than other apprenticeship schemes that i know of which obviously is a great factor for me.
It would be nice to have a more social side to work but unfortunately there are not many opportunities in my particular office but im sure in other offices there are.
Yes
As it is a great stepping stone to get anyone who is planning on getting into the financial sector as a jo because it gives you all the relevant qualifications.
Make sure you do as much research into the history of RBS as possible as in the interview they ask you a lot about how the bank was formed and who are the CEO's etc.
