I work in commercial banking, helping customers by answering the phone, replying to emails. I also prospect new customers and try to find out about their business and how we can help them. I was recently involved in the judging process for the Gatwick Diamond Business awards, in which NatWest sponsor Business of the Year award, this meant I got to go out and see all 17 applicants and help in the decision of picking a top 3.
I have learnt how to speak to customers and gained a lot of confidence since I have joined. I have learnt how to email in a proffessional manner, answer the telephone in a proffesional manner and also deal with customers who are unhappy and wish to complain. I have learnt how to use the systems here, and also learnt about what the bank wants to achieve and the methods they use in order to achieve this.
I enjoy the programme a lot. Its very well organised, I know that support is there whenever I need it. I have a good team around me who are happy to answer any questions I need answering and support. The training is well organised and I know where to go, to recieve help with any training matters. The webinars are useful, as are the monthly review calls with my asessor.
I feel valued as they have obviously put a lot of work into the apprenticeship programme. The application proccess was very detailed which to get through makes me feel valued. I am busy and am given work by colleagues which again makes me feel valued. The webinars are also very comprehensive and provide a lot of information, as well as the sessions which they host throught the apprenticeship scheme, where they have internal and external speakers. The pay is also very good.
The proggramme is very well structured, I have an individual learning plan with many webinars and conference calls for me to attend. The monthly review meetings help me keep track of what I need to do and also any deadlines which I have. I have monthly workbooks to complete and they made it clear where I can find these and who I need to send them off to. Also my exam was organised for me, I didnt need to worry about booking my exam etc.
BPP are very good, I recieve regualr emails from them detailing any information that I need to complete, and also reminders before I have a webinar. They are availible through email and reply quickly. I also have an individual assessor in which I have monthly telephone calls with, who keeps me up to date as to what I am expected to do this month and any deadlines in which I may have.
My colleagues are very good and support me with any questions that I have when working or if I need any support they are quite happy to help me. The systems are not brilliant and do crash but that is to be expected in such a large organisation, and support is there for me to call and fix the systems. RBS are very good at supporting me and I know if there is anything I need I can contact them.
Salary is very good, especially compared to other apprenticeships which my friends have and also ones that I have seen when I was looking before I got this one. I can also get expenses if I ever need to travel any where with work. I also havent had to pay for any training or exams which I have recieved/shall recieve. So overall I am very pleased with the salary and benefits I recieve.
There are many opportunities outside of work, I have gone for a meal with my colleagues and have one planned to attend. Their was also a christmas party which unfortunately I was not able to attend due to another committement. So outside of work at the moment there are not that many opportunities at the moment.
Yes
I have reccomended RBS to my friends and also to schools when I have do talks about my apprenticeship. I think the scheme is very good, their is a lot of support provided, and good qualifications to be gained. The pay is very good and hours are also good being 9 till 5. I am also provided approiate time within work to do any studying that I have. I am given a vareity of intersting work and also responsibility.
Research the bank first because they will ask what you know about the bank before. Take your time with the online tests to make sure you pass them and take them seriously because some of the questions are not easy. Also take your time with the initial application stage and write a detailied application, with experience that you have not just work based but also any experience which you have had in your free time.
