  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis i assist customers and relationship managers over the phone and via emails. any questions or requests around there accounts with the bank will come to myself to deal with, along with this we also host webinars for customers in which i send out invites. i also find around 4-8 hours a week to study.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills while working for RBS, communication is a big one, you have to be clear and decisive to make sure that everything makes sense for one of your colleges to pick up on or there will be issues as information passed around could be wrong and cause disatisfaction with the customer

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the progamme as i can come in to work knowing that the people around are happy to be working in the office and ready to help each other when ever it is needed. it comes across really well and makes me enjoy the experiance more.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by NatWest?
  • i feel that as a whole RBS had put a great scheme in place and made all apprentices feel welcome and able to be part of a team. the responsibilites given to myself is what makes me feel valued as i have only just joined the bank and if anything requires someone elses expertise they try to better the apprentices by getting them to listen in and watch for future reference

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the structure that is in place is great, it is very structured in terms of learning, so webinars and exams are all in place for when you join along with the support programme that can assist any questions or queries you may have. Everything was ready for day 1 so I could get to work without an issue

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I get a lot of support from the training provider (bpp) along with a training system within the bank, we had weekly webinars and a study text sent out, along with this we had a monthly call with a tutor and had facilities in place so that we could ask questions if and when needed

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support showed by my employer is great, there are many differenet departments in which i need to learn about and have been given the chance to go to the offices to learn about the departments. along with this i also have a "Buddy" who is a fully trained employee that can help me along the scheme.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary provided suits my needs nicely, it allows me to be able to comfotably live. i can pay rent, drive and pay for a car to be able to travel to work with ease and have money left over to save for whatever else is required through out the month/year.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities outside of work when it comes to networking and meeting new people, RBS host many different events and webinars which we can reach out to people to gain contacts that may be useful in the future that is relevant to our roles within the bank. Charity events are also a big push in which anyone can participate enabling a chance to gain life skills.

  • Yes

  • i would recomend RBS as it has great career oppertunites along with a competitive pay and a friendly enviroment that everyone wants to improve and help. The oppertunites given are vast so you can find a job that suits and fits your personalities and strengths but also can create a challenge.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • The tips i would give to people wanting to join RBS is stick with it, it is a hard process to get the job and then the learning that is involved can get stressful, the more you stay with it the better the experiance becomes. Dont shy away from asking questions as it will hold you back. everyone is really friendly.
