I work with the relationship managers in the office and assist them with day to day admin which can involve things like phone calls, meeting booking and paperwork. I also attend customer meetings with the relationship managers which allow me to go out and see the customers and then also bring this knowledge back to the office with me.
I have learnt new skills in the ways of liasing with customers in terms of talking to them as their 'banker'. this has helped me expand on the skills I already had from working in a customer facing role in my last job. I also have now learnt how to use many of the systems and procedures we use in the bank with the running of day to day tasks.
I enjoy my programme a lot as I feel every day like I am learning new skills and also meeting new people. I do like getting out to see the customers and learning more about how actual business' run. I also like the fact that while I am learning on the job I am also working towards studying for a professional qualification.
I feel very valused by RBS as from the first day I joined I was assigned tasks to do at the same level as the other employees here, so I dont feel like I am being treated differently just because I am an apprentice. I am also included in everything my other colleagues also have to complete.
My programme has been well organised and structured. leading up to my exam I had online lessons that would teach me everything I needed to know in preparation for the exam, and then I was also given other sources of information I could use or places I could go to find things out. I also have online webinars for the coursework books I have to complete each month.
I do recieve support from my training provier in the sense that I have got many online lessons and links I can use. I can also contact them when I need to to get thelp from them. however, I can only talk to them via email and once a month by phone so it would have been nice to have met them in person.
I recieve lots of support from my employer. everyone in the office knows I am new and knows I may needs help with the tasks I am doing - I feel like I have many people I can ask for help and have never felt abandoned. also when the rm's are doing tasks they like to always incluse me so i can learn more ways to complete jobs in the workplace.
My salary package meets my costs very well. I have enough to cover my bills each month with some left over that I can put away into savings. I feel like my salary is very generous for the amount of work I do and I am very well treated by RBS for recieving this amount.
Yes there are many opportunites outside of work. I have already attended multiple young professional events outside of work that allow me to meet people from other areas of the bank and also people from other financial services. There are also many clubs and societies you can join while being part of RBS. I also have many opportunities to go on customer meetings with the relationship managers.
Yes
I have already recommended RBS to a friend as I feel that it is a very welcoming and nice place to work, you are adapted straight away as part of the team and recieve very generous benefits and a good salary package as part of wokring for the rbs team. I also it is a good place to start if you want to get your foor on the ladder of a successful business.
I would advise others applying to RBS to make sure they have an up to date list of any recent jobs they have had and skills they have had to use in the job as a lot of the application process for RBS involved answering comptency questions based around examples of how you have sorted something out in the workplace.
