My main role was Document Control. This involved organising, maintaining and the issuing of all formal communications within the project.
I have learnt quite a bit relating to IT skills including the use of Microsoft Excel and advanced formulas
It was an enjoyable learning experience but things weren't always cheerful.
From what I could see, Costain as a company valued me as an apprentice but I can't say the same for the workers in the office at C336 Paddington New Yard. Luckily my new office is the complete opposite and my colleagues are positive.
The programme was quite efficient at times.
My trainer [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was extremely helpful in the final weeks of my apprenticeship.
My superiors weren't really much help throughout my apprenticeship. My gratitude goes out to a handful of employees which provided me with the necessary experience required for my apprenticeship.
I can't really complain about the salary BUT it would of been hard to maintain my lifestyle if Costain didn't provide an anual travel card.
Opportunities can always be found as long as one looks for them.
Yes
Costain gave me a chance to completely change my field of work. Without this apprenticeship I would most likely of continued my path in retail.
Make the most out of the experience and take in as much information as possible. I would also suggest prioritising the completion of the apprenticeship over the workload of the job as I did come across members of Costain who would happy put their workload over my future if it made their day less stressful.
