I audit companies, so I go out onsite to clients offices, and undertake a variety of audit programmes designed to judge whether the financial statements show a true and fair view.
I am training for the AAT qualification, and will move onto ACA next year to complete my chartered accountancy training. I am also learning transferable skills, such as how to work in a team and communicate professionally. I have also learned fundamental audit skills required for my job.
I quite enjoy this programme - I find that every day is different, work wise. The teams are constantly changing so I get to work with different people every week, and the work environment is very positive.
I feel quite valued, particularly by colleagues I actually work with. We have an internal recognition scheme which we can nominate colleagues for depending on whether on not they have shown good qualities (fitting certain categories).
The programme is well organised - we have an induction process, both within work and at college, and training is provided via day release courses. We have mentors with whom we can meet and ask questions about work, training, etc.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider, through classroom based lessons, and lots of resources, such as online tests, workbooks and question banks.
My employer is very considerate of the fact that I am still training, and I feel that if I had a problem regarding this, I could let my employer know and they would take steps to help me in this.
The salary I receive is very competitive, and from talking to other friends in similar roles, I feel quite lucky with the salary/package I receive from my employer.
There are lots of CSR opportunities, charity events and other sports events, for example, which we are encouraged to take part in, and the team spirit is very positive which makes it nice to partake in outside-of-work events.
Yes
The work environment is very positive, the people are great, there is always an opportunity to do something different every day; the benefits and salary are good too.
I would say try looking at the insight days they hold in the summer for experience in the field. Look online at the Mazars graduates website for information on the application process and do lots of research.
