My role is within IT, called Packaging. This is where we build applications to specifications given by the client, this role involves me talking to the client, finding out their specifications and then building the final product on a day-to-day basis. You are always learning in Packaging and you are never doing the samething.
I have learnt many new skills from the apprenticeship; Business etiquette, how to speak to the clients/colleagues professionally, how to troubleshoot and have further developed my general IT skills.
I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship, I have loved learning new things and I really enjoy working with computers and IT in general. I really enjoy my job, and what this apprenticeship has given me.
I feel that ATOS values every who works under their name, be it a contractor or a permanent member of staff. I personally feel valued and that the work I do is also valued.
My apprenticeship programme is very well structured, they had everything planned out months in advance including what dates our training was on as well as what the training was going to be. It was well thought out and it was all customised to the apprentices.
My training provider provides loads of support to me and all the other apprentices, he is always willing and happy to help, and none of us would be doing as well as we are without him.
I receive a little bit of support from my employer but not as much as I would have liked, we get most of our support from our training provider, which is a bit sad but its just how it is at the moment.
The salary package is okay but not as much as you would expect for the work that we are currently doing. There are people on a lot more money than us and we all do the same type of work.
There are a fair few opportunities out side of work for socialising, there are always people in the team going out for a lunch or after work and you always get invited to go with them.
Yes
Because ATOS is a really good company to be with, the personal healthcare comes in very handy and it feels like ATOS do care about the wellbeing of their employees, and it is a really good starting company for that matter.
Be confident with the answers you give to any questions the ask and be honest they are not looking to catch you out and they invest in the person, its not always about the skills the person they can do. Also do some background research if you get offered an interview because it always helps.
