Intern Review

- SmartFutures Intern - The tasks varied from day-to-day, every task was a learning curve. It ranged from basic soft skills such as networking and communicating to complex skills such as learning how to use Excel in a professional way. - We got to meet very senior people who were part of the internal business. We met and talked with senior partners, directors and global heads. It was something that money just cannot buy. We got great feedback and made some great links. - We also got to meet senior representatives of the company's clients. This was equally beneficial and we met some very senior people within the world of finance. I remember meeting a global head of an Investment Bank, someone whom even people working full-time in EY did not meet.

I have learnt an array of new skills and cemented many old skills. I learnt how to effectively present and how it differs from sector to age group. I learnt how to network. I learnt how to write business reports. I learnt core Excel skills such as Pivot Tables, H Look-up etc. Most of all, I learnt the importance of networking and I really made use of this skill through the process and do till date.

- I enjoyed the work immensely as it was not childish work or work designed for experts. It was as if the work was just designed for our age group (16-18). - The team was excellent! The people were great at motivating all 49 of us and getting the most out of us whilst still adhering to entertaining us. - The culture of EY is very rare to find elsewhere. It is like small families within a very big family. Everyone is friendly and is willing to help, all you have to do is ask. - It really exceeded my wildest expectations and if it was possible I would do this every single year. - I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the process.

- We were daily praised and exceptional work would reward itself through various ways such as gifts or chocolates. We felt as if we were important. - The team quickly got linked with us and I have made many good friends at the firm. - When we were at our client HQ, we got recognition from senior heads who would work with us and listen to us. This was excellent as we managed to get invaluable feedback.

- The induction day was a good start, I managed to talk with a whole range of people on the programme and people who worked for EY. It gave me a good taste of the whole programme. - A plan was given to us from the first day which was really helpful and we knew what was coming up and when. - The team were very punctual and all the pieces of the jigsaw fell in place perfectly.

- I have got a mentor with EY who has supported me a lot, she has linked me to various other people within the organisation who have helped me build on skills. - People whom I worked with at EY, have helped me improve my CV and are helping me continuously to grow as a professional.

- I would actually pay for this experience so I was very grateful that I actually got paid for such a great experience. It really is excellent! Yes, there are certain costs especially as it based in Central London however it can be easily overlooked due to the good pay from EY!

- There are a whole array of opportunities for one to get involved with from galleries and museums to all sorts.

As it is such a great organisation. It is a people's firm and it adheres to that in heart and soul.

- The application process is vigorous and hundreds apply so make sure you work hard to get in, once you are in, you will love every minute of it! - Make sure you do the practice online tests and just take a deep breath and do not panic! The tests are designed to test you!
