I am an apprentice PMO Analyst. I work within the Business Operations team which is a static team that handles, processes and publishes all the business units accounts financial information on a weekly basis to the company sharepoint site for senior management to view.
Absolutely. I've improved my communication skills as i work within a team and the work we do requires the team members to communicate in order to reach the end goal i.e publishing the financial information.
I can honestly say i have and i still do enjoy every aspect of the Apprenticeship programme. The team i work within has done a great job in welcoming me and understanding my skills and limitations and they have worked around that and have adjusted my workload to a degree that i am able to complete my work but it still pushes me and improves me as a person and employee but it doesn't overwelm me. Capgemini as a company is a perfect fit for me. The company really does live by its philosophies of "people matter, results count". To date my employment with them has been enjoyable and i hope to continue this in the forseeable future.
I feel very valued by capgemini. I have reviews with my manager periodically and he gives me pointers for improvement but he also tells me what i am doing right and compliments me on my performance which is good.
The programme is well structured. The induction to capgemini involved a 12 week training cycle at the university of telford where all expenses were paid for. This gave all the apprentices a knowledge base that would enable us to improve on once we entered the business. Since starting in my job role the training has been good and i am undergoing my NVQ which increases my knowledge and i am also attending optional workshops that me and my manager both agreed wouold benefit me and my team in the job role i am currently undertaking.
My training provider gives me all the support i need. Luckily for myself i am quite independant and prefer to exhaust all other options before asking for help but if i did need it my training providor accessor has given me both their email and phone number if i ever need any help and they always reply swiftly.
Both my colleagues and my manager endeavour to give me all the support i need if i do need help and i can happily say they live up to that promise. Anytime i feel as though i am out of my depth or not sure on an issue my manager or colleagues will always be there to not only help me resolve the problem but explain why we are doing it this way. This is important for my personal growth and understanding of the business.
Althought i travel 110 miles a day to get to work which does cost me quite a lot in fuel every month i feel as though Capgemini has provided all the apprenticeships with a salary that easily accounts for that expense and it is one of the best paid apprenticeships on the market. Also with the option of promotion every year too that can be a big motivating factor.
Yes there are. The company has asked me to attend a company event at a local high school to promote the apprenticeship which i attended and got thanked for. The company also holds sporting events at a local leisure centre on a friday lunch time.
Yes
The Apprenticeship has everything in my opinion. The training is second to none and the employee development is great. The salary is one of the highest out of every IT employer and the job is extremely enjoyable will plenty of promotional offers in the future.
Having good qualifications will help but really try to sell yourself as a person based on the skills you have developed such as communication, dealing with people, problem solving etc instead of focusing on the qualifications you have earnt. On my apprenticeship intake i met plenty of people who didn't even have an A-Level in ICT but they got taken on as an apprentice because the company saw something in them. So really sell yourself and not your qualifications.
