I am a software engineer in the company, as we are IT Consultants my day to day role varies from month to month which makes it very interesting. I have been in intensive training for three months before being put on project and I am always given the extra training I require for any new project. As a result I am always highly prepared for any task or job that I am given. My main responsibilities are the maintenance of back end software for companies at this current moment.
Yes, I was taught Java and SQL at the beginning of my course from a basic level which was great as I had not done either of these coding languages before. I have also had powercentre training for my current project.
I love my program it provides the right amount of learning with on the job experience. As an apprentice I am very highly thought of which surprised me and made me feel more welcomed within every team I have worked with.
I feel highly valued as an employee and apprentice and these are two very different things as I am given extra days off in the year for my studies which is great but I am not held back in anyway from feeling like a full time employee even though I get this benefit of study days.
The program is well structured and the degree I am partaking in is Bespoke for our company and the things we are taught directly transfer to what we use day to day at work and vice versa.
I receive help from my training provider when I require it and I am always asked and checked that the work load is never too much which it never is, there are many places to go for help and the company as a whole are very understanding of the position we as apprentices are in and how much we are doing outside the normal 9 to 5.
Lots the help is always there in the teams we work in and outside there is a team of people who are dedicated to our well being and this can come in many forms from just keeping us calm when stressed to helping us get through work or get past specifically hard tasks which are presented to us.
It more than covers my costs I am paid expenses for any extra travel I have to do so travel costs never worry me and my pay covers everything and anything I could want with spare which I personally put into savings for a house.
Yes there are always opportunities arising to show you want to help in the business and for them to help you enjoy yourself. I have helped out at promotional events for inviting young students to enquire and see what an apprenticeship is like. And also for the fun side of things we have done many social events eg a bowling night and curry night.
Yes
They make you feel valued and welcome wherever you go. They always want to help you in any everything you do no matter how large or small. And they are always willing to help you meet your personal career goals as best as they can.
Be yourself. They want peoples personalities to shine through here and in this company they believe there is a role/position for everyone no matter what they want to do they will accommodate you as best as they can.
