software engineer and social analyst. working with social data to provide insights to clients, working with clients to provide services whilst still studying in spare time
computer skills have improved, introduced to python coding, am being to complete a diploma in IT proffesionals and will start a degree in march next year
I enjoy the programme very much, I enjoy the job and am also interested by the work we are given to study and am excited to be continuing with the scheme
I feel valued by the employer as we have reviews throughout the process and the pay grade given to me is more than the average 18 year old. also the chances for promotion are frequent
the induction is well organised, some of the technicalities didn't work during my induction but these were minor details, all we are given mentors to ask any questions to.
I have been given some support from QA, however as I have not requested much support this may be why we only have contact every 6 weeks, I am happy with this as I prefer to be independent in my learning style
Lots of support is provided from online help tools to asking people for help, a colleague has given me brief lessons on coding once I showed my willingness to learn.
I have relatively little living costs and the salary is more than the average 18 year olds. travel costs are also covered by the client when on client site. however I am doing the same job as most other people who get paid much more.
yes there are many opportunities to get involved with activities outside of work however I have not put my name forward to get involved in these yet as I am very busy on my project at the moment.
Yes
it is a great opportunity to get a good wage and to get a degree paid for, it also allows you to learn whatever you're interested in and allows you to progress and gain experience in IT.
Be yourself and be confident, in the interviews ask the interviewer questions about themselves don't just systematically answer their questions, they want consultants with good people skills, not just coders.
