I am a software engineer working in COBOL and SQL programming. I write the spec, design create and test programs in a mainframe environment. I also do work for my team that involves reviewing their work and fulfilling any tasks set to me during team meetings.
Both, learning a new programming language is a new skill but it has developed a previous understanding of programming even further.
It is very enjoyable and is a great opportunity for college leavers, definitely worth doing
Yes, we are constantly praised for work, there is a good news letter, we talk about successes in team meetings and our work contributes towards HMRC's massive systems.
Everything is well planned in advance and we make use of email event scheduling and conference calls if we have questions or any new information to be given.
We see our QA assessor every month and he gives us good feedback on our work and how to improve. He also answers any queries we send him by email quickly.
Lots of training is offered by Capgemini and we have had other opportunities like going up to London to meet clients there.
The salary more than covers my travel to and from work and is also enough for me to rent a house with 3 other people.
There is a variety of clubs and social events held throughout the year, these are advertised by email or have information on the ASPIRE connect page.

Great pay, great company to work for, top qualifications offered without having to pay for it yourself.
Make sure you show confidence and you are friendly, the application process is for you to show off your skills but the asssessment days are about finding out what sort of person you are. Anything you need to learn will be taught to you in training.
