i am a mechanical maintenance apprentice, my role is to carry out maintenance tasks on plant which involves a range from pumps, valves, gear boxes etc.
i have learnt many hand skills and knowledge about the systems in a nuclear power station. The skills will benifit me in the future and develop over time
i enjoy the team i work with and the working environment itself suits me. i also enjoy hands on work and keeping busy. I also like to push myself in areas i struggle with.
i do not feel particularly valued, i feel that i am a "spare" part of the team sometimes. however i am determined to complete my apprenticeship and secure my place in the team so that i am more valued.
the 1st 2 years could have been better structured, the 2nd two years are structured well. I have enjoyed the theoretical and practical side of my apprenticeship.
I recieve and adequate amount of support form my training provider at all times. if i ever feel like i am not recieving enough support they are always welcoming to help.
I recieve and adequate amount of support from my employer at all times and they offer good advice. if i ever feel like i am not recieving enough support they are always welcoming to help.
good, adn the opportunites available when i finish my apprenticeship in terms of salary is very good. I am looking forward to when these opportunites are there.
no, my job does not provide any opportunities outside of work that i am aware of. however if any do become apparent i will definitely get involved.
Yes
great career oportunity and a good company to work for with the additon of a good pension scheme. I also think edf is a good company because it is providing a crutial service to the public.
take all opportunities on offer and be pro active when working to show the correct attitudes and behaviours. do not shy away from jobs that seem too dificult.
