as a mechanical apprentice my role is to shadow a qualified tradesman and learn about how each piece of kit works on the site and also to learn the correct and safe way to perform each task
over the course i have gathered many new skills that i would not have come across without my apprenticeship. these skills help me both at work and in everyday life.
i thouroughly enjoy my apprenticeship because everyday i am met with a new and interesting task. the tradesmen are also great people to work with who are happy to teach you and easy to get along with
i feel very valued by my company as they care very much about their apprentices. this is clear because there were many visits and talks from high up managing staff to talk to us during the early years of our apprenticeship.
our programme is very well structured as we are sent to england for the first two years of training which sets us at a basic level then we head back to our stations to develop our skills further in our trade
i recieve plenty of support from my training provider as all the tradesmen are happy to pass on their knoledge of plant and the training centre on site has many courses happening throughout the year.
i recieve plenty of support from my employer as theya re always coming to see how we are getting on and are always emailing or phoning to keep us updated on what is happening.
my salary package meets my costs excellently as i alwasy have money left at the end of the month to spend on luxury items and days out at weekends or if im on holiday.
there are oppertunities outside of work as there is a 7-aside team that play on a wednesday and there is the social and recreation group who organise events for employees
Yes
