Highways inspection for virgin media, ensuring that any work under taken in the public highway abides to the new roads and street works act.
Yes the apprenticeship gave me a second start at life and has made me the man i am today, by teaching me an array of skills needed to work in compliance at vm. Whilst in The governance and compliance team i have learnt a lot about Highways standards which our work is to adhere to in order to avoid council fines or FPN's.
I enjoyed my apprenticeship and i believe it will be one of my happiest times at VM, i loved the learning and interaction with all the various departments, not to mention my fellow apprentices and manager at the time.
During my apprenticeship i felt very valued by the company and felt all inspired to climb the ladder. My current role involves me working on my own which i dont mind but i rarley hear about my value to the company these days.
We was the first Planning and civil apprentices, so there was a lot of things that needed tweeking in the process of qualifying as an engineer, The apprenticeship was aimed more towards the planning side which was great however i ended up on the civil side and coincidentally had a lot to learn when i started my role in compliance, had a lot of reading up to do on the NRSWA, SROH, NJUG, HAUC legislation which is the life blood of my entire role.
I recieved lots of support in my apprenticeship a few times i needed my hand being held and all i had to do was ask.
Well my employer is a large organisation so i suppose i recieve a lot of support with regards to regular pay, health care etc, and online training courses.
I am on a fine salary.
Possibly but it would have to be with another utility company like BT or something.
Yes
Virgin Media is a fantastic company to work for, Its a company that supports its employees and provides a lot of benifits with the job, there seems to be a criteria of the type of person who works at virgin, in genral the ratio of people i like to people i dislike would be 9/10 people i like. Its good pay and reasonable hours.
I would say you need to demonstrate enthusiasm, a drive to succeed, to be confident but not cocky, Voice your opinion but not over power conversations and above all be yourself.....In my experience Virgin media is full of down to earth people generally speaking.
