  • Started off in the MINIcademy in the first year and now I'm in my final year I am out within the business on shifts shadowing the maintenance technicians

  • Learnt many machining techniques such as turning and milling, also welding and other general maintenance techniques.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Overall the programme is ok, as you get further into the programme you realise why you learnt different skills in the earlier years

  • I feel valued to the point that I get a good amount of training and rewards from the job

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We were the first year of apprentices to be trained at the plant therefore i would expect it to be more structured with the younger apprentices now.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Now I have completed the majority of training for the apprenticeship now I rely on hands on experience within the job now

  • There is always someone there to talk to or ask if I need any help or advice with something that I am doing

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I feel the salary for the apprenticeship is very good and the other perks available through the company are very appealing

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • During the middle years of the apprenticeship there are oppurtunities to advertise the group and also oppurtunities to visit the other plants around the uk

  • 9. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • As the oppurtunities are great and the salary is very competitive however speaking to the maintenance technicians working around the plant today feel the actual level of training have fallen since they were apprentices years ago


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Make sure they stay focused and put the time and effort in and they will be rewarded in the end, as they aren't at school anymore and need to push themselves
