In my first year of my apprenticeship i am currently studying subjects for qualifications of level 2 NVQ and BTEC at a training establishment. The subjects include project, maths, mechanical principles, electrical principles, bench fitting , mechanical maintaining devices, control and instrumentation unit and also electrical practical units.
I will be gaining at the end of this academic year Level 2 NVQ and BTEC qualifications. I have also gained skills and experience presenting presentations such as confidence in speaking to an audience. Another skill I have gained is a first aid response certificate.
I thoroughly enjoy the current work i am doing and the programme i am on. I believe i will continue to enjoy this programme throughout my apprenticeship. This programme exceeded my expectations.
I believe i am a valuable member of EDF Energy as i have been taken on as an apprentice and could potentially have a job at the end of it. You are praised and recognised for the good things you do which is a good boost for morale.
The programme is very well planned out adn structured from the lessons to the timings for lunch. I am pleased with how well organised it is as it is easy to understand everything for which you need. From the first day it was all set out for what we will be doing for the next year and made everything clear for what was needed.
In every part of the apprenticeship there is support available for anything you need whether it be academic or personal which i find is extremely good as you can approach anyone when in need of help.
Also the support from my employer is very good as if there is a problem with anything there is someone to help with anything.
For a first year apprentice i believe i get paid very well as at the establishment i am currently at i don't have to pay for transport to and from work , living accommodation or meals which i believe helps a lot. The pay is good for the surrounding area also.
Yes, there are as within my first year there are 3 work trips which are overseas and you can apply to become a team leader for one of those trips for which i had applied and was given the position for Berlin. I enjoyed this as it was something i hadn't done before and was a new experience.
Yes
I would recommend this apprenticeship as there are many opportunities within the company after the apprenticeship and the training for which i have received is extremely good. The opportunities within the apprenticesh ip and the things you get to do such as the work trips are incredible experiences. There is hardly any downpoints to this apprenticeship.
The advice i would give is that before applying be aware for the first two years you move away from home which in it self is a great experience. Also make sure you have all the correct grades, come prepared and be punctual.
