Maintenance technician. I am involved in responding to any breakdowns that may happen in a certain area of the plant.
Yes. I am currently on placements so am constanlty improving my enegineering skills and go to college once a wekk to undertake various qualifications
Its physically challlenging at times, but I'm never mentally challenged. I do enjoy the programme, however I wish there was more manoueverabilty within the company and higher qualifications available.
I feel as though certain departments respect you, however other departments just abuse the fact that you are an apprentice and get you to do jobs that are not enjoyable, rather than tasks that improve my skills.
The structure is very basic and constantly adapting due to the lack of planning. i feel as though at times I am unaware of where I am meant ot be and what I am menat to be doing.
We recieve limited support and are mainly left to sort yourself out. If you have aproblem it is often resolved though. The subjects taught are good.
Barely any. You are told where you are going and unless you stumble across a big problem you are on your own. More 1 on 1 contact is required.
Yeha the salary is good. And the car scheme :D Living costs are low and the location is great for me. It only takes 30 minutes and I still live at home as oxford is expensive.
None. Or if there are we have never been made aware of them. If you excel then certain competitions become available to you, however this is not for everyone and i wouldn't class that as an outside of work oppurtunity.
Yes
Good money and secure future. The skills you learn are invaluable. The car scheme is great and the placemtns in general teach you alot.
Attitude is everything. If you're willing to learn you will excel. If you're good at science/maths you're perfect but if you have no interst in this then i wouldn't apply.
