  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am training towards being a maintenance technician. At the moment day to day we have to complete our BTEC and NVQ work and we work through each unit. We also have to give a safety message each day to align with pour company policy.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new skills, especially practical skills. I already had some academic knowledge on the subject and thanks to the training i have received i have been able to develop on those skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme that i am part of. Not only is the training good however the out of training activities put on by the company make the apprenticeship even more enjoyable.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EDF?
  • I feel very valued by EDF this is because of all the activities that they put on for us to try and make the apprenticeship as enjoyable as possible for us. They also check in with us regularly to make that we are doing okay.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our programme is very well organised, this is because our training is organised in such a way that we get everything done that we need to do in time.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We receive a lot of support from our training provider. This is because if we need help or advice or just one to talk to then there is always some one about our issues. Also they give us 12 weekly reviews so that we can discuss our progress and how we are doing.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive alto of support from our employer. This is because we can talk to our coordinator at any time that we need to. We also get regular emails from our coordinator as well as meetings and talks with our manager to check in on us.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The money we get paid covers all of the costs that we may have. This is because our company pays for our food, accommodation and travel home so we have very little expenses to pay ourselves.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • yes there are lots of opportunities outside of work as our employer puts on lots of trips for us to do, like paint balling, London, Brighton, life skills trips to Europe.
