I joined The Group in October 2015 as a Higher Marketing Apprentice working within the Lloyds Banking Group Brand Identity team. A simple way to describe what our team does, is to say that we are the guardians of the Lloyds Banking Group Brand, driving consistency across all platforms. All communications that colleagues see whether this be about their pension, mandatory training or a team message should be in the Group's corporate brand. We also face externally for example government communications. As a team, on a daily basis we give guidance on the brand and develop further resources to help out our colleagues.
I feel that I have really progressed in my first six months with the Group, not only within my role but my learning as a whole. It is hard to pick out some specific skills, but I regularly attend external seminars to improve my knowledge of the marketing sector as a whole.
I am thoroughly enjoying my role day to day within the group and the opportunities the apprenticeship brings with it to extend my learning's. I would say that the modules/coursework of the programme itself should be better aligned to the group and the course that the supplier provides swapped to a different one.
I have entered into a wonderful team and feel completely supported not only by my manager & senior manager, but the wider team and other apprentices, both my own cohort and the 'year above'.
There are parts on the course that should be more structured, eg when our assessor is coming to visit and the dates when we will be out of the office for training days.
We do have adequate support from our training provider, with 6 weekly one to one reviews, I-studios and an opportunity to book 1-2-1 calls if we need to go through anything.
The support I have received from my manager has been excellent not only in my day to day role but with the apprenticeship as well. My manager is always keen to answer a question and I can go to her for any support that I need.
Compared to most other apprenticeships which I have seen advertised, The Group is way ahead, offering a salary which is only just below a normal colleague of my role would receive.
I have joined the Social Committee for Marketing where we organise social activities through out the year. I also spend time out of work with other apprentices.

Lloyds Banking Group is a fantastic company to work for, with a huge focus on personal development. With such a breadth of different teams there is a great opportunity to get involved in all sorts of projects which you would not associate with a bank.
Really do your research and make sure you properly prepare! Think about what questions they could hypothetically ask you and consider what your response could be. It is imperative that you get across why 'you' and no someone else.
