Parts Quality Technician College 5 days a week learning various engineering skills such as: Welding, Soldering, Benchfitting, General Mechanics, CAD, CAM and Microprocessor Programming
Every subject listed above i have learnt new and gained confidence and improved my quality of work over the time of learning.
i very much enjoy my apprenticeship as we are constantly learning new skills that are very interesting. Been put in a great group of guys that i like being around as we all help each other out at college. We go to work in the school holidays which can be slightly less exciting due to the short period we are here but being at rolls royce motor cars is a great place to be.
As we are away from work so often we get little feedback from our manager as they dont see us that much so we dont get to speak to them as much as i would like. thats expected in the first year as we are at college so much. however college is very helpful and give great feedback to us and appeciate how we work.
Our programme was/is fairly organised. To start with it took a few weeks for college to be sorted out but once we were at college it was very easy to settle into the work. Only issue is the future plans. Dont uite know whats happening next year. Would be nice to know but isnt that important.
Excellent support from all lecturers at college and really enjoy being under their guidance.
General support from our manager and HR is readily available and they are usually very quick to reply to emails. Have been very helpful when i have asked for the help
Salary for a first year apprentice age 16 is very good for me. meets exactly what i need to pay for all my living costs and social costs.
There have been a few events i have heard about but have never attended anything
