I am a Team Manager in a Banking Call Centre. I amanage a team of 14 people who take inbound customer calls. My role is to ensure advisors provide excellent customer service, and to manage people and risk issues.
Developed my existing skills and knowledge of banking processes and procedures and learnt new skills in public speaking, and group communication. I also developed my organisational skills, organising my time to complete deadlines for coursework.
I thoroughly enjoyed the programme from start to finish, most of all the networking of Apprentices from all areas of the business. Also the opportunities it has brought - i.e. representing the Bank at Downing Street for National Apprenticeship Week.
Extremely valued - being chosen for opportunities and gaining a permanent promotion of the back of my committment and drive sparked by the scheme has been extremely positive.
It wasn't fully organised when I completed, as I was part of one of the first intakes in my business area. I now have the additional role of arganising new Apprentices within my site, and things are much more organised.
An acceptable level of support. There was communication on a monthly basis with my Assessor, and this was also 2 way. If I had any difficiulties I was encouraged to reach out for support which was readily available.
An acceptable level of support at the time, and this was due to the scheme being very new in my business area, and team managers not being as involved with the scheme as they are now. I am confident if I needed further support at the time, I would have had it. Apprentices now are much more supported becasue TMs have a better knowledge of what they are going through.
Very well, as an Apprentice is was paid a full wage for my doing my role, and completing the Apprenticeship alongside my role, which is very appealing considering other companies offer different.
Not that I am aware of - as I am happy within Lloyds bank I do not actively seek for opportunities outside of work. Although my additional role outside of my TM role is to support and guide all Apprentices through the scheme in my business area.
Yes
Because of the opportunities available for career progression and the higher likelihood of this happening after completing an Apprenticeship.
Make sure you are committed to your own career, and with ambition and drive you will achieve your goals and be recognised for your hard work. Be prepared to use your own time, but if managed well this isn't difficult.
