My job role during the apprenticeship consisted of learning a new task every day included, discovery documents, packaging documents and all the other aspects of application packaging. By getting set different tasks every day motivated me to want to learn more. Sometimes we would have training which was on site.
I learnt a number of new skills included computers. I did a number of Microsoft exams and a British Computer Society exam which gave me the required qualifications for my permanent job role as an application packager. These were again enjoyable as we got training for a week and then an exam at the end of the training.
My apprenticeship was enjoyable because we had a team of 10 apprentices of which we were training for 6 months which was challenging but really enjoyable.
We get appreciation from our manager when we achieve sometimes, for example I got rewarded a award by Atos where they give you a £100 voucher for a selected shop for participating in the apprentice brathay challenge 2015.
Because I did an apprenticeship within a technical team in Atos, our apprenticeship was tailored by the User Application Management Team to ensure that we learned all aspects of the job role.
We achieved maximum support from our training provider, which we could go to if we had any problems at all, which was good because I knew that if I had an issue/concern with anything to do with the apprenticeship that it would be resolved.
Because Atos is such a big company, the support is limitless, if your line manager is not in, there is always someone else who is senior who can help you out. We have a HR team as well who you can go to about any work related issues.
My salary easily met my costs, Atos I noticed pay a lot more than minimum wage for apprenticeships than other companies, with allowing apprentices to start on 12k.
Atos have lots of extra curricular activities to participate in as an apprentice. For example, I participated in the Brathay Challenge 2015 which was outside of work time and very enjoyable.
Yes
Because I enjoyed my apprenticeship, and I have now been made permanent by Atos and I enjoy my current job role, so all the hard work is worth the challenge.
I noticed that the apprentices after myself, were made to go to university/colleges for training where as my training was done on site and was not an inconvenience to me.
