I am a project management apprentice working within the project management office (PMO). In this role, I work alongside other members of PMO to provide current project managers (PMs) with assistance and guidance. This also allows me to network with these PMs in order to learn from them to develop myself further. My responsibilities on my account which are usually done daily are: - Managing the PMO team's mailbox. - Setting up project spaces for PMs to use. - Closing project spaces. - Managing the Starters and Leavers (S&L) process. - Working on continuous improvement tasks. A project that I am involved in would be the Brathay Challenge 2016.
Yes, I have improved many of my skills such as; - Communication - Planning - Team working I have also improved in relation to software applications such as: - Microsoft Excel - Microsoft PowerPoint - Microsoft Outlook - Microsoft Lync - Microsoft Visio - Microsoft Project
I greatly enjoy work and by job, as there is a great team of people who I can learn from and socialize with. I really like the diversity of the company's culture as it has given me the chance to meet many different people from different places / backgrounds which is new for me as I commute to London from a small town which lacks in such diversity. So Atos has greatly exceeded my expectations.
I feel very valued by Atos as my managers and colleagues always give me recognition when I have done well and have also given me great feedback whenever I haven't done as well as I could in relation to tasks and projects.
The programme is very well structured in my opinion. There are regular QA workshops which my managers never have problems with, the length of the programme is fair to the amount of exam work and portfolio work that is asked of us. There is plenty of support given to us by both Atos and QA. Overall, I can't think of a single negative.
I receive a great deal of support from [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]. He is an amazing trainer, by far the best I have ever had. He is very easy to get in contact with, he is always happy to help with my portfolio or with answering any of my questions. Tony is also very good at making the QA work shops enjoyable for myself and the other apprentices.
Atos also gives me a great deal of support as everyone who I work with including my managers are happy to answer any questions and give me one-to-one learning sessions if needed.
As I commute to London from Felixstowe, my annual outgoing cost for travel alone is more than half of my salary before tax. However, I an extreme case as I am the only apprentice I know to live so far from their base location. I also live with my parents so any other outgoing costs are very few and small. So overall, I would say that programme's salary is good and fair. I just happen to be a far distance commuter.
Yes, there are plenty of events that take place. One example would be the Brathay Challenge that I am currently taking part in. However, as I am a far distance commuter I don't always have much time for activities outside of working hours.
Yes
Because it is a great company to start a career with in order to progress and develop myself further as there is a great number of impressive individuals to learn from.
Make sure to take your time writing your application to Atos, maybe even write a few drafts and have them reviewed and improved if needed before submission. Be yourself in your interview, make sure to be completely truthful and tell the interviewer the honest answer rather than the answer that you think that they want to hear. In relation to the assessment days, try your best to make a good first impression by acting and dressing appropriately for work.
