I work within the Atos' Accessibility and Inclusive User Experience department. My job role includes tasks such as: document accessibility (PDFs, Word docs etc.), web accessibility (testing, solution implementation etc.) and standard compliance (WCAG, ISO, Section508).
Yes, over the course of the scheme I have learnt new skills and reinforced existing skills within accessibility, assistive technology and web technologies.
I have enjoyed the scheme in regards to the job role and learning experiences, however the organisational skills of the training provider often left much to be desired.
I think that within my department I feel valued, however due to the size of Atos I am simply a number on a page for other employees and higher management.
The scheme had a clearly defined structure including an induction, training schedule and support mechanism, however as the scheme progressed the amount of information communicated by the training provider decreased and often lead to confusion.
The support provided by the training provider was often extremely poor, submitted units often took months to be marked, an in some instances one year with little to no communications, whilst when questions were raised these were often not answered for an extended period.
My managers, HR team and team members provide excellent support, further if they personally don't know the answer they will reach out to other individuals to source the information.
My salary is extremely well payed when compared with other schemes and it adequately covers my living, travel and daily costs of completing my job role.
The company provides extensive events / activities which you can involve yourself within, I have a good social life with my colleagues and have attended multiple event within the organisation.
Yes
The overall experience has been great, I have furthered my knowledge, expanded my network within the industry, gained a qualification, whilst earning a wage.
Ensure you are prepared for your interview including information about the job role, current clientele and the general company. If you are successful ensure you harness all the opportunities available.
