I am the lead developer on a Development Team working for Heathrow Airport. My day to day role involves working with my team of developers, providing support to them and the wider Heathrow community.
I have learnt a lot about project management and teamwork, I was already quite skilled in development so that was fairly easy for me to pick up, but the teamwork and management skills I have learnt are invaluable.
I love my job, its great fun and very rewarding. The apprenticeship programme itself is interesting, there is a lot of work to do but its good to learn new stuff.
I feel very valued by Capgemini. I get a lot of appreciation from my manager and my peers, and I was promoted very quickly due to my dedication.
The QA programme itself can be awkward, for the first few months I didn't really know what was going on,but I think that may have been related to my work reviewer than anything else. After changing reviewers I now understand and enjoy the programme more.
Support is always available from QA if needed, although I haven't used it much and so cannot comment on its usefulness.
Capgemini give me 8 study days per year to do work, I am expected to devote some of my own time aswell, but the support is always there from Capgemini if I need it.
My salary is great for an apprenticeship, it meets all my bills and has allowed me to move out of my parents house. My work expenses relating to travel are covered.
I am given lots of opportunities to get involved in events. There are often sporting events that we get invited to take part in, as well as events relating to the apprenticeship programme.

They are a great company to work for, the work is fun and every day is different!
Brush up on your knowledge of IT. Make sure you come in to the interview knowing what you are talking about and showing a real interest in the subject, if you do that you will do well. Also, try and make yourself stand out from the rest, but do it in a humble way. Talk about your achievements, but do it in a way that is humble.
