  • Maintain equipment in a substation and learn new skills and put into practise the skills I learn at the National Grid Training Centre.

  • I have improved my practical skills and the knowledge of electrical equipment to increse my performance in the substation

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme a lot as the training standard is very high and have got to know my apprentice collegues well since i started the apprentiuceship and get along with them well.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by National Grid?
  • I feel very valued by National Grid because there vision is that we are the future of the company so we need to be of a high standard.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised as at the start of the year we got a schedule telling us everything we needed to know for the year.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training provider is very good and is easy to access whenever needed for any reason. he also tries to encourage us whenever necessary for tasks during the apprenticeship.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I recieve a lot of support from my employer as they have provided a traning centre for your skills to be improved and a team of people to deal with any problems that you have during the apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary meets my cost very well as i am only 16 and living at home. I believe that i am payed very well and it really encourages me to improve.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is a football pitch, small golf course, fishing lake, a bar area with pool, snooker and darts also a small gym. this provides us with a number of things to do after work. Also there is a bus that is provided to local facilities.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend them to a friend as i bleieve that they are a good company to work for and is a great way to access the business through the apprenticeship.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Grid?
  • Tips i would give the others applying is enjoy it but you also have to work hard.
