Maintain equipment in a substation and learn new skills and put into practise the skills I learn at the National Grid Training Centre.
I have improved my practical skills and the knowledge of electrical equipment to increse my performance in the substation
I enjoy the programme a lot as the training standard is very high and have got to know my apprentice collegues well since i started the apprentiuceship and get along with them well.
I feel very valued by National Grid because there vision is that we are the future of the company so we need to be of a high standard.
The programme is well organised as at the start of the year we got a schedule telling us everything we needed to know for the year.
The training provider is very good and is easy to access whenever needed for any reason. he also tries to encourage us whenever necessary for tasks during the apprenticeship.
I recieve a lot of support from my employer as they have provided a traning centre for your skills to be improved and a team of people to deal with any problems that you have during the apprenticeship.
My salary meets my cost very well as i am only 16 and living at home. I believe that i am payed very well and it really encourages me to improve.
There is a football pitch, small golf course, fishing lake, a bar area with pool, snooker and darts also a small gym. this provides us with a number of things to do after work. Also there is a bus that is provided to local facilities.
Yes
I would recommend them to a friend as i bleieve that they are a good company to work for and is a great way to access the business through the apprenticeship.
Tips i would give the others applying is enjoy it but you also have to work hard.
