My role as an apprentice involves a mixture of on site experience and college based learning which i think is ideal for my type of learning as i get to see how its done first hand and then back it up with practical and written college work
I think that i have became a better team player and i have really bonded well with my collegues at college and in the team which i will join at the end of my apprenticship
I really enjoy my programme i think it is a great alternative to staying on at school and it really gives you an idea of how the working world works and stands you on a good platform for the rest of your career
i think national grid values its employees greatly without us coming through the apprenticship it could be difficult to find the correct people with the right skills and knowledge for the job
the programme could be better structure with more oportunities to take annual leave as we cant take it during college and during our first year the majority of our time is in college.
Our training provider is always ther to support us we can go to speak to him and they also help with providing good companies to come and give us the traing as well as internal training
our employer offers us great support with the traing and on site work, offering us many benifits and essentials that we need to perform to our best
the salary is very good considering it is an apprenticship however it is unfair that people who live near london recieve such a substantial pay increase when many are living with parents still and dont pay bills so they dont need the increaed pay
our team are a very sociable team and we often have oppertunities to bond outside of work for example the christmas meal each year is a great way to celebrate
Yes
It is a great company that will look after you and provide oppertunities to move forward in the company and they also provide many beifits such as cars and a fantastic sharesave scheme and pension.
be yourself and also do some research about the company before applying this will help later on in the interviews. If you enjoy practical engineering work this id the apprenticship fpr you.
