On day-to-day basis, I act as a main point of contact if a customer would like to get in touch with the relationship team. I deal with lots of general enquiries whilst also providing assistance to a relationship manager. I aid the relationship manager in preparing for their meetings. This may entail me researching about the business or gathering some financial information from our systems.
I have learnt and developed a variety of skills. One of the key skills I believe I have developed are my organisational skills. Organisation is key in what I do as I can have a lot of things going on at once. After a few weeks I realised this and knew that I needed to work on this skill. Also, a key part of my job is to be able to speak to customers confidentally and professionally. I never had a job before which involved speaking to customers so this was skill that I had to learn fast and develop pretty rapidly. I feel now that I am confident in speaking to customers and can deal with any enquiries in a professional manner.
I enjoy my programme a lot. This does have a lot to do with the actual work that I am doing rather than the studying side of things. I enjoy being involved with customers and it's quite satisfyng.
I feel pretty valued as they have gave us a role with so much responsibility. They have trusted school/college leavers to take on a role of a professional. For this reason, I feel that RBS value us highly and have got us in for the first term.
Unfortunately not too great. This is the first year that RBS have taken on the amount of apprentices that they have (400 apprentices.)Taking this in to account, I can understand why is has not been as organised as I would have preferred.
The support from our training provider is ok. I have a 1-1 phone call with a tutor from BPP monthly which I find useful. I would like to have more personal support.
I get a lot of support from my employer. All of my team have supported me really well and even when I make mistakes, they let me know what I am doing wrong and what I need to do better.
I am very much satisfied with my salary/package and they do meet my costs.
There are a lot of opportunities as long as you put yourself out there to do them. It gives you an opportunity meet different people and develop new skills
Yes
RBS really have supported me and have gave a 17 year old, who dropped out of college, a job of a professional. It has been a good expierience so far and love how I am learning and then putting this learning to practice straight away- which you do not do at school/college.
Be confident and be yourself. One of the most important things that is looked at is personality. Your're a school leaver- they know your knowledge of banking is going to be poor. They want to see that you're passionate about banking and hungry to learn and suceed.
