My current role is in the Anti-Money Laundering team within Compliance. Our main objective is to investigate activity which could potentially be connected to fraudulent or illegal activity. We interact with various internal groups as well as external regulatory bodies in order to relay our findings and escalate where necessary.
I have developed extremely strong skills in investigation, information sourcing, dealing with pressure and performing at a highly accurate level. I am also able to work well as a team, contributing to an overall team effort to reach a specific goal or target. As well as these transferrable skills, I have also completed a Chartered Institute in Securities and Investments, as well as a Level 3 NVQ in Providing Financial Services.
All aspects of the work environment have been exemplary. The work is challenging, but fulfilling. The team is always supportive, without giving me reduced responsibility or lowering expectations due to my age/experience level.
Yes. The value J.P. Morgan places in it's apprentices is clearly made evident by the extensive investment they have made in us. Whether that be through role-based training, or simply extra-curricular activities as a group, we truly feel a part of this huge organization.
Extremely. Everything is planned, coordinated and executed to perfection. Coordinating a large group of young adults can't be easy, but this task is handled seamlessly time and time again.
We are given comprehensive support from our training providers. Whether this is through monthly face-to-face reviews, or in-person group revision sessions, or even through the phone or email, we know there is always an avenue down which we can reach out to our Training provider.
More than I, for one, ever expected. Whether it's from your manager and surrounding colleagues, or from the Course Coordinators and fellow apprentices, there is an extremely dense and wide network of people to call on. This can be for professional advice, or even just a chat after a stressful afternoon. Always there.
I live locally, and at home with my mum, so my overheads are fairly low. Saying that, considering the current average apprentice salary, we are extremely to earn what we do, given our experience level and age.
Countless. Whether you're in to Sports, Coding, Knitting or any other activity you can think of, there's a club. If there isn't a club, you can be helped to make one, if you so wish!
Yes
This is one of the largest financial institutions in the entire world. There are very few organizations in existence that have the scope and opportunities that J.P. Morgan offer.
Don't expect it to be a walk in the park, or think that you'll be treated as less than equal because you're an 'Apprentice'. This is quite simply not the case, you are equal to any other employee.
