My role is an access field technician, this means that I go out to install and repair Virgin Media services in customers houses.
I have learned a lot about fault diagnosing and how to find faults, but also I feel that my communication and customer skills has improved massively from dealing with customers face-to-face every day.
I enjoy the apprenticeship programme because every day is a different day with different job, and no two jobs are the same.
I do feel valued by Virgin Media and feel that they are trying to progress me through the company, but feel I will be respected a lot more when I come out of the apprenticeship and go on to be a fully qualified service technician.
I think it's well structured but feel that study days could be made a little more beneficial.
We recieve quite a lot of support from our support manager, who is extremely helpful and will go out of his way if we need a hand or advice.
I feel that we are helped by our employer but not as much as we could be as the managers and PT's are often busy.
I think that the salary for an apprentice is at an excellent level, but the wage rise to a fully qualified service tech is not as big as I feel it should be.
I feel that Virgin give you a lot of opportunity to take part in voluntary work and charity days.
Yes
I think it is a good apprenticeship to be on, as you get a good qualification whilst learning the job itself and experience from being out on your own so you are not really thrown in at the deep end when you come out of your apprenticeship.
I would say that the apprenticeship is good, but only for the right type of person who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty and thinks about things in a logical way, as sometimes service calls can be hard to get your head around!
